Note Cards For My Boys

As I have mentioned (probably way too many times, LOL) my hubby and I are going away (kidless) next week.  I wanted to leave something for my boys so I decided to make them little notes to leave under the pillow the first night and in their snack bag for school (I am packing the non-pershible parts of the snack for each day before I leave so my mom can just add the fruit and juice box) for the rest of the days.  I just ordered the Our Kids set from Pink By Design and knew it would be PERFECT for this project. I wanted to do a sports them because they both loves sports so I used Sports Mania to cut out the football and basketball at 2.5 inches and then I had some baseball paper scraps that I used.  I stamped each one and wrote a note to each one of them (some reminding them to behave for the Maw while we are gone :) but mostly telling them we love and miss them).  I forgot to take a picture before I started writing so you get to read the one I am writing to leave under my one sons pillow because he has a football game that day.  I made two sets of what you see in the pictures, one set for each son.  My daughters are too young for something like this but maybe when we go away for our 20 year anniversary in another 10 years I will do it for them, LOL.  TFL.

Cricutless (dare I say that) 40th Birthday Card

I made this card for my SIL for her upcoming 40th birthday.  As you may seen me mention my hubby and I are going away (kidless) next week and her party is the day we come home so I had to go ahead and get it done.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE pink and green and I had this new adorable paper pack from Recollections so I had to use it.  I used the My Creative Time Make a Banner set for the banner, I stamped the green paper with the polka dot stamp then I embossed it (hard to tell from the pic) then I used some super old stamps I had in my stash for the 4 and 0.  I used twine to "hang" the banner.  I used one of the stamps from my new Close to My Heart stamps for the cupcake, cut it out then added a twine bow to accent it.  The two sentiments in the box are both from the Close to My Heart Many Greetings set.  I hope she likes it!  TFL.

Halloween Crafts-Pencils and Pillow boxes!

There are SO many Halloween craft ideas out there, my head is actually so full I am sure it would take me years to make all of the ideas in there!  My girlfriend and I decided to have a Halloween Craft Day at her house to make some.  I wanted to make something for my Sunday School students that did not involve candy.  So I decided to do a pillow box with erasers in it and a pencil going through it.  I used some patterned paper from K&Co., solid color paper from AC Moore (a trick or treat paper pack), some ribbon from AC Moore, Michaels and Joanns and a Happy Halloween stamp from the Guess Who set at Pink by Design.  I used my new Art Philosophy cart to cut out the pillow boxes and the tags.  Here is the assortment.  TFL :)

Happy Halloween Paper Wreath!!!!

Hello. I used a less than $3 paper pack (not even half of the pack) from Michaels, a ribbon I purchased at AC Moore for $2 and some ribbon I had for the hanger to make this paper wreath. After I was done I decided to add some spiders (those cheapy spider rings, I had bought a pack at the $1 store for my kiddos) and a stamped Happy Halloween sentiment. I stamped with versa mark and then embossed it. I used the Pink By Design Guess Who set for the sentiment. This was my first paper wreath and I love it.  Can't wait to do a Fall one and a Christmas one. (My girls helped...played with the supplies while I made it, so they wanted their picture taken with the wreath).  Right now it is hanging inside but as soon as the time comes (not sure when it is ok to decorate for Halloween :) it will go on the outside of the door :) TFL.

This is the girls with the wreath before I added the sentiment in the middle of the ribbon

Anniversary Card for My Hubby

My husband and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary at the end of the month, we will be taking a 1 week trip to Naples, Florida (stopping in Savannah and Orlando on the way) to celebrate.  This will be our first time away from the girls and our first time away from all of them for so long.  Luckily my Mom is coming to stay at our house to take care of everyone.  I wanted to make my hubby's card this year so I decided to go ahead and get that out of the way.

I just picked up my Art Philosophy-Close to My Heart bundle over the weekend and KNEW it would be perfect.  I used the chip board accents for the banner, I then cut out the paper to go on top from the cartridge.  Next I used some stamps I received as a part of my purchase (love FREE stamps).  Those stamps were A Typeface for the I and U, Pair-a-Phrase for the heart and Frames, Tags and Borders set for the U and me 4 ever ticket (I cut the paper out using the cartridge).  Although the color combo is not something I would normally do I had already gone with the yellow and orange before I decided I wanted a pattern paper and I found this heart paper in a DCWV stack I had (thanks Steph) called Madly in Love so I wanted to use it and I think it all works.

I inked the banner by rubbing a cottonswab with in over it and rubbed the edges, just so it did not look so "clean", I used red stickels for the heart and I used my recollections heart edge punch on the bottom.

I hope my hubby loves it (along with his new smoker grill :)  TFL.

Iron Ons From the Imagine!

As soon as my daughter brought home her preschool bag (they have this instead of a backpack to make sure items fit and everyone has the same thing) I knew I wanted to use my Imagine (which I NEVER use).  It took me about 10 tries but I finally got it!  LOL.  The first time I used iron on "paper" that was not meant for dark fabric so you could not see her name (from Lyrical Letters) or the little ballerina girl (from Best Friends).  So I finally went to Michaels and purchased some iron on "paper" meant for dark fabrics, thank goodness for my coupon.  Today, I printed it out about 4 times before I got it right (I only used 1 sheet of the iron on).  I need to change the pressure and speed to get it cut out without ripping and even in the end I had to do some touch up on the Ballerina.  FINALLY it was done and ironed on, YEAH!  I know Ally will love it :)  TFL.

A Mini Papertowel roll album

I had seen those mini albums using toilet paper rolls online and wanted to try one but...I am not a fan of saving toilet paper rolls (sorry but I just think about my children and what was on their hands when they touched it and it grosses me out).  So I decided to save my papertowel rolls and it worked out just fine, LOL.  I made this mini album for a young lady in my office how just had a baby girl.  It took me a while because I needed to get a crop a dile to punch the holes because one you wrap the rolls it is pretty thick and my hubby  broke my standard old hole punch trying to do it.  I used some pink and purple paper I had, some patterned paper from a 6X6 paper stack I had from Making Memories, some stickers I had on hand and then I cut the name, Justice, from Lyrical Letters after I welded it on my gypsy.  I used some binger rings I already had to make it a "book" and I cut some tags, added ribbon to them and put those in each pocket so she can add her own pics and carry it around or hang it up at her desk when she comes back to work.  Hope she likes it!  TFL.

From a 20oz Soda Bottle to a Gift Card Holder :)

My crafty girlfriend had recently shown me the 2 liter bottles filled and decorated online and I thought, I would love to try that.  But then, I had a graduation to go to for a girl at work that I mentor (from a 2 year intern program) and I thought, why not try it on a smaller scale.  I decided to use a 20oz soda bottle for her.  I filled it with tissue paper, some star paper clips (for noise if you shake it :) and a Barnes and Noble gift card!  I then used the Happy Graduation cart to decorate it.  I think it turned out cute and it was super simple.  I can't wait to try the 2 liter when I have an appropriate occassion but am glad I did this mini version in the mean time.  TFL.

Crayon Wreath (my first attempt so please be nice :)

Wow, I had seen these crayon wreaths all over and knew I wanted to try one but I had no idea how hard it would be (for me at least).  Getting the crayons to line up was not very easy and needless to say mine did not come out perfect but I think it is ok for my first attempt.  I bought a cardboard/wood circle from Michaels for the base (it was 99cents).  First I covered it in just regular old school paper from my kids pile, just to give it a background (I just traced the cirle and cut it out).  Then I already had tons of crayons but for this size it took a little less than 2 boxes.  I added some school ribbon I had for the hanger and also on the inside on the circle just because I wanted it there, it really did not need it.  I used Locker Talk (because I do not have the Recess cart :( to cut the apple (I embossed the leaf), glue (I used my gelly roll to add some white glue to the top and outline the letter) and ruler (just used a black marker to outline the #'s and letters).  I had previously purchased a 3 pack of these little chalkboard ornaments at Joann's because when I needed them last year I could not find them so that worked out great.  I wrote on the chalkboard with my white gelly roll pen.  I also had one little open Bible left from a pack I bought for a teachers gift last year so I added that as well since it is for a Catholic Preschool.  All in all I think it turned out fine and I hope the teachers like it.  I am not sure if I will do another one soon but if I do I will know going into it that it is not as easy as I thought, LOL.  TFL!

I've been spotted!!!!!!!

What a SHOCK it was when I was checking blogs Saturday night and headed over to one of my faves, http://www.pinkcricut.com/ to find out that I had been SPOTTED!  I used my Cricut and Pink By Design stamps to make my hubby's birthday card (see that post below) and then I posted it on the Pink By Design community and don't you know it was spotted by Sara (Pink Cricut).  I have to tell you I was just ticked pink when I found that out :)  Here is Sarah's post if you would like to see it (she also "spots" people on Facebook) http://www.pinkcricut.com/2011/09/6773/.  I think it is a wonderful way to recognize her loyal fans and customers!  Now I get this AWESOME I've been spotted button to put on my blog.  Yeah me!  LOL.  Well thanks for sharing in my good news with me and maybe you will get spotted too :)

Happy Birthday Cupcake Pillowbox

My crafty girlfriend Stephannie gave me the idea to use a pillowbox as a quick gift card holder and now that I have a cartridge (Girls Makeup Party) that has the pillowbox cut on it I am OBSESSED with pillowboxes, LOL.  My cousin's daughter turned 1 last weekend so the girls and I went to the party (the boys had football).  I cut this pillowbox using 8 1/2X 11 pink paper and using the fit to page feature just to make sure it was big enough (it was plent big).  Then I cut the cupcake from Once Upon a Princess with its layers, I think I did it at 3 inches.  I used my Peachy Keen Every Day Character stamps (the biggest one in the pack) to stamp the face. I added some stickels for glam and some eyelashes for cuteness :)  I also used a light pink in to stamp the pillowbox so it looked like a watermark with some stars and a wrapped gift (just some cheapy $1-2 stamps).  Then I used a darker purple to stamp happy birthday all over it. I used my Happy Birthday stamp from My Creative Time.  The gift card fit inside with some extra room, you would put a small trinket (if not for a 1 year old) or just wrap it in tissue paper and put it in.  It work great and my 3 year old who "helped" me loved giving the gift to our cousin.  TFL!

CCR Sports Theme Challenge

So I do not usually enter challenges because I usually cannnot make the deadlines, LOL.  But I saw this one today at Crazy About Cricut and Creative Cutter Room http://www.creativecutter.org/ and knew I could come up with something quickly so I came up with this pillow box.  Would be a great party gift for a baseball team celebration.  I overlayed the letters for the word CHAMPS from Varsity Letter on the pillow box (from Girls Make Up Party).  I then taped a piece of white paper on the inside before I assembled the box.  I used Sports Mania for the bat, I would have used it for the baseball but I had these cute baseball puffy stickers so I decided to use that, I put a ribbon around it but tied it in the back so it would not block the front.  TFL.

Scrapping and Weaving!

I recently joined the site http://letsscrap.ning.com/ which gives sketch ideas.  I want to focus on scrapbooking more this year so I thought this site was perfect.  A couple of weeks ago they had a weekly challenge that involved weaving.  I missed the deadline but still wanted to complete the page.  I am not sure I have enough patience for weaving again but we will see, LOL.  I knew I wanted to do this family shot from a beach weekend we had this summer and am excited to have a page done that I can hang in my scrapbook room somewhere until it goes into a book.  I added some buttons for accents and I always write in the sand so that came in handy for a "title" for the page.  I hope you get inspired by the page or by visiting the lets scrap site!  TFL. (sorry for the quality of the pics, the overcast and lighting in my room is horrible today so some are blurry and some have a flash).

Back to School!

Wow, this last week has been CRAZY!  I have very little crafting time, I am working on a scrapbook page that is taking me forever, LOL, using a sketch which I have never done before.  It involves weaving which I think is what is taking me so long.  We were away for Labor Day weekend so I did not get any weekend crafting time but I did enjoy the beach with family and friends.  My boys started school last week and their teachers loved the teachers gifts, when I went to back to school night last night both commented on them and had the empty boxes (guess they drank the soda and ate the popcorn :)) on their desks!  Love it.  My 3 year old daughter had her preschool visit yesterday (she starts next Tuesday for 2 days a week for a couple of hours) she loved it and was very sad to not be going to school when she woke up today.  I have been working on some Halloween crafts which I will post when they are done but for today I do not have anything :( except some cute pictures of my kids.  Hope to have something crafty to post soon!  TFL.
